French Magistrate Judge's Headdress
Flat French magistrate judge's headdress known as "Mortier", composed of a two-part black fabric and velvet structure, separated by a finely embroidered frieze. Our 1930s period headdress is still in use today. Good overall condition. We are enclosing a pair of white cloth gloves from the same period, which were used by the judge after deliberation to pronounce the sentence. Diam. 18 cm. H. 115 mm. Est. 100 E.

Rare headdress of a Professor of Law and University Judge, red amaranth silk stretched over white canvas, flat and round base, decorated with matching star-shaped stitching. 19th century period (nowadays the wearing of university caps is still governed by a Napoleonic imperial decree of 1809). Original box bearing the name of Judge Bernard de Lyon. Diam. 19 cm. H. 115 mm. Good general condition.

Percussion Infantry Gun made for the Indian Army
Round, smooth barrel with rear and forward sight, retained to the wooden full-stock with three iron bands, the stock, with brass fitting, crudely finished, cast brass trigger guard (typical of Indian guns), percussion-lock with flat plate marked "TOWER 1870" and the British Crown, with old, leather carrying straps and an old, although non-pertinent, ramrod. Very fine condition. Length: 136,5 cm.

Made of Iron, with tongue-shaped blade of flattened lens section, broadening at the base into two short side-wings, the blade, engraved with a pattern of foliage and stylized ornaments on both faces, conical, round socket, with moulded ring about its middle and a long spike of square section to be inserted in the (missing) wooden staff. A weapon of rare typology, known to be used either for hunting or war, dating to the late 17th - early 18th century, inspired by similar, European staff-weapons, excellent condition.
