The Most Noble Order of the Garter
Garter made of blue silk, with thick, gilt-silver bullion wire (toned) embroidery with the Order's motto "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" and laurel leaves; fire-gilt buckle. A beautiful piece, in extremely fine condition.The Order of the Garter, founded in 1348, thus being among the oldest orders of Knighthood, with the Golden Fleece and Savoy's Order of the Holy Annonciade, is the highest British distinction, granted by the sovereign decision only, limited to 24 Companions, besides the ruling sovereign and the Prince of Wales; more, an unlimited number of super numerary Companions can be created by the sovereign. The Most Noble Order of the Garter
An early, embroidered Breast Star, 125x104 mm. The rays of silver wire and sequines, the centre with thin, red woollen cross within thick silver embroidery, the outer circlet made as a tied garter with the Order`s motto "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" on soft, blue velvet ground, the reverse with original paper backing. A very fine and very early star, from the late XVIII - early XIX Century, extremely fine condition, compared to its age. II RR!

An early embroidered mantle Star to a Knight of the Order, 230x240 mm, the rays of silver wire and sequines, the centre with thin, red woolen cross within thick silver embroidery, the outer circlet made as a tied garter with the Order`s motto "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" on soft, blue velvet ground, the reverse with original paper backing. A very fine and very early star, from the late XVIII early XIX Century, extremely fine condition and of high rarity! I- RR!

The Prince of Wales�s Own Lodge
Membership Badge, 39x32 mm, GOLD, round, glazed medallion with the Prince of Wales�s arms on radiating beams, within blue enameled Garter bearing the motto �HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE� in fine, gold lettering, polished, convex reverse, with the engraved motto �ICH . DIEN�, fitted with its original suspension as a stylized bow with engraved details, in dark blue morocco case with fitted inner compartment. A beautiful, rare badge, dating from the mid-19th Century, excellent jeweler�s quality and condition. I R! Historical Note and background: The Lodge was constituted August 20, 1787, by Warrant from the Duke of Cumberland, Most Worshipful Grand Master, under the patronage and personal protection of the Prince of Wales who subsequently became George IV of England. George, Prince of Wales, was Worshipful Master, 1787-1820, having at one time had as Wardens the Dukes of York and Clarence. The Duke of York was Worshipful Master 1820-7 and the latter having been Worshipful Master 1827-30. The Duke of Sussex, Most Worshipful Grand Master, was Worshipful Master 1830-43. Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, was Worshipful Master in 1874. The membership consisted entirely of those who had been honored with appointments under its patron or men firmly attached to His Royal Highness�s person and interests. This Lodge has the privilege of electing Grand Steward annually and also its members may wear �a royal medal, having the Prince of Wales� plume and motto within a garter, surmounted by the coronet,� etc., for the purpose of being �worn by the members out as well as in the Lodge, as a public token of their sincere and devoted attachment to H. R. H.�s person and interests.�.

An Early, embroidered Grand Cross Breast Star of the Military Division (from 1815), 110x98 mm, the rays made of rich silver broderies, paillettes and wires, small loops to the tips, the centre in gilt-silver wires and poly chrome embroidered centre medallion, the reverse with original paper backing (minor losses). An important, visibly worn piece, in extremely fine condition.The Order of the Bath, instituted in 1725, to reward the merits towards the Crown of both civil and military, by order of the George, Prince Regent, was divided into two different division to better signify the appreciation of the Sovereign towards the merits shown in the campaigns against Napoleon: "to the end that those Officers who have had the opportunities of signalizing themselves by eminent services during the late war may share in the honours of the said Order, and that their names may be delivered down to remote posterity, accompanied by the marks of distinction which they have so nobly earned." (The London Gazette, n. 16972, pages 17-20). II RR!

An embroidered, mantle Star to a Commander of the Military Division, 165 mm, the arms, with sequined embroidery, polychrome embroidered centre with details in gold wires and thick, deep red velvet, the reverse backed with thin paper (minor loss and tears), the centre with circular maker`s label of "Lewis Gold Laceman, Embroiderer, Sword Cutler &c. to their Highnesses the Dukes of Kent & Sussex & the Prince of Hesse Homberg, 37. St. James Str.".An imposing, early, beautiful piece, in the finest quality, very fine condition and patina.The Order of the Bath, founded in 1725 by the King George I, derives its curious name in the homage to the ancient ceremony for creating a Knight which involved a symbolic bath as a sign of personal and spiritual purification. It rewarded any kind of merit, civil and military towards the Crown, in 1815, it was divided into two distinguished Divisions, Civil and Military. II R!

Commander�s Breast Star with Swords, 80 mm, Silver, chiselled and pierced arms with Golden swords between them, centre medallion with white enameled �running horse� on a bright red enamel ground with green enameled �field� below, pale blue enameled outer circlet with motto �NEC ASPERA TERRENT� in separately applied, finely chiselled gold lettering, within a thick, green enameled laurel wreath with orange-red berries, the reverse with centre disc, bearing the engraved maker�s mark �RUNDELL BRIDGE & RUNDELL. JEWELLERS TO THEIR MAJESTIES His Royal Highness the PRINCE REGENT AND THE ROYAL FAMILY.� vertical, broad golden pin. An early, very rare and fine star, from ca. 1830 in very fine condition.
