Order of the Holy Sepulchre
A Complete set of Knight of Collar in gilt Silver: 7 groups of double, rectangular links bearing the openwork motto of the Order “DEUS LO VULT” in medieval capital script, within double, chiseled bars; 6 red enameled crosses of the order within polished circular border; the forward link as a large, embossed trophy of arms with polished details and bearing the enameled Order’s cross to the armour’s breast; the Trophy’s base, fitted with a loop to whiche the badge is appended as a red enameled cross of the Order superimposed with an oval centre medallion embossed with the scene of Christ’s resurrection; the whole, within green enameled palm’s wreath; Breast Star in gilt Silver with chiseled rays; white enameled centre medallion with red enameled Order’s cross super- imposed with the scene of Christ’s resurrection, similarly to the badge; outer circlet composed by a double wreath, the inner one, as a gilt palm and the outer as a green enameled laurel one; the reverse fitted with vertical pin; the whole in the large, original presentation case with blue velvet, fitted inner compartment. An extremely rare insignia from the 2nd half of 20th Century, of the highest class of this important order under the patronage of the Holy See, as awarded to catholic heads of state and as a reward for outstanding merits to highest ranking members of the Church; excellent condition. A “Collar” Class of the Order in gilt Silver: 8 oval, openwork medallions bearing blue and red enameled “Ar” monograms; 7 highly oplished open books bearing the embossed inscription “EDUCATION CIENCIAS LETRAS ARTES” and the forward piece as an oval medallion with embossed portrait within blue enameled border bearing the inscription “ANDRES BELLO” and stylized laurel wreath, the whole sided by green enameled laurel wreath with red berries, tied by golden riband acting as loop to append the badge as a seven-pointed, white enameled gilt Silver Star, flanked by polished, golden beams, the obverse centre medallion in gilt silver with embossed bust within blue enameled outer circlet bearing the inscription “ANDRES BELLO” in golden lettering and stylized laurel wreath; the reverse, similar to the obverse, but the star being not enameled; centre medallion with embossed open book bearing the embossed inscription “EDUCATION CIENCIAS LETRAS ARTES” on polished ground and a laurel wreath below, blue enameled outer circlet with the inscription “REPUBLICA DE VENEZUELA” in golden lettering; upper loop and round suspension ring. A very rare insignia of Venezuela’s highest order for cultural merits instituted in 1965, in this class, awarded to heads of state or prime Ministers for the strenghtening of cultural relationships with Venezuela; excellent condition and early manufacture.
