Gold Commemorative Medal from the series “Leaders Politicos en el Mundo”
Gold, 30 mm., 15 g., The obverse with head of Franco facing left, within inscription in two lines above “LEADERS POLITICOS EN EL MUNDO” “POLITICAL LEADERS IN THE WORLD”; then at left “ESPAÑA” and “SPAIN”, and “FRANCO” below; the reverse with allegory of the world’s nations represented by flags radiating above the Earth’s globe with a scroll insribed “POLITICAL LEADERS IN THE WORLD”, a short oak and laurel wreath above which the title and weight are indicated “GR. 15 ORO LEI 900” and the initial of the artist, “NV”; around a long inscription repeating “Leaders Politicos en el Mundo” in 5 languages, including Russian. A piece from a series struck in the 60’s by a private mint, to honour all the then living top leaders from all over the World: this piece surely was presented to Franco as a homage. Very rare, mint state! RR!
