An embroidered Breast Star of the Order: the rays made of Silver thread with tiny loops to af x the star to the habit; round centre depicting a crowned rampant lion rising from waves, within the outer circlet bearing the motto “DOE WEL EN ZIE NIET OM”; the reverse, with remains of the original, protective, green morocco leather backing. A most rare breast star of the type entirey embroidered, thus being one of the earliest of such stars, dating back to the year of institution, 1806; a worn piece, making it even more attractive, besides its patina, for being from the property of an outstanding personality of the Napoleonic years; extremely fine condition.
