An early Commander’s Badge of the order in Gold, with chiseled and engraved details on both sides; polished gold centre medallion with separately-made, embossed, chiseled and engraved bust of the King facing right within blue enameled outer circlet bearing the golden inscription « JOAO D.G. REG. DE PORT. P. DO BRAZIL »; reverse centre medallion with blue enameled sword within green enemeled laurel wreath, applied on highly-polished, golden ground, within blue enameled outer circlet bearing the golden motto « VALOR E LEALDADE * 1808* »; the decoration’s top as a tower, made of two, resp. obverse and reverse sides held by a rivet passing through the doorway, with round, smooth suspension ring and strong, ribbon ring chiseled with foliage and acorns and polished borders; original, deep-sea blue silk neck ribbon.
