Order of the Mexican Eagle
A Grand Cross Badge of the Order in silver Gilt: the eagle, resting on a light-green enameled cactus, holding a green enameled snake in the beak, its body obliquely running to the obverse; crossed sword and scepter; hinged, upper crown with enameled details; the orb surmounted by a fleur de lys, smooth suspension ring; with a length of original, sash riband.
A most rare, beautifully-made piece of this scarcely awarded class of the highest order of the short-lived empire ruled by Maximilian of Habsburg, younger brother of Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria; excellent condition.
Dim.: 68,0 x 39,0 mm. I RR!
