Supreme Order of Christ
A jewelled Cross of the Order from the 1st quarter of 19th Century: Silver cross, set with old-cut brilliants, centred by a chiseled gold cross; silver crown-shaped suspension hinged to the cross, set with similar stones and with chiseled gold details and orb’s cross, ribbon ring to the reverse (this, struck twice with the French, “boar’s head” mark); narrow, neck ribbon. A beautiful piece, of the best workmanship, superb condition. Dim.: 58,0x23,0 mm. (It could be interesting to note, that this type of decorations, with crown suspension, can also be referred as being early decorations of the Vatican, Supreme Order of Christ). I RR!
