Order of Don Pedro I
Grand Cross Star, instituted in 1826. Breast Star, 84x70 mm., gilt Silver, French hallmarks, with smooth, faceted rays, the centre, with five-pointed, white enameled star, with pomed tips, white enameled centre medallion with a dragon similar to the order�s badge, within green enameled outer circlet bearing the golden inscription �FUNDADOR DO IMPERIO DO BRAZIL� and golden laurel leaves, jointed by a stylized rose, upper, enameled Imperial crown, reverse, fitted with vertical, round pin. An extremely rare star of the highest class of this curiously designed Imperial order, vaguely inspired by the Napoleonic Order of the Iron Crown, in the finest manufacture and bearing a beautiful patina; excellent condition.
