Hippocrates Mantel Clock
Large bronze mantel clock with dark patina about the great Hippocrates at full length, draped in an ancient toga, supported by the serpent caduceus symbol of medicine and pharmacy. Blackened turned wooden terminal base with Arabic numerals dial. Probably French, work from the late 18th century for the bronze, mid-19th century for the clock. Dimensions 50 cm overall, 32 cm for the statue alone. Good general condition despite wear to the patina. Very attractive and imposing!
