MINIATURE PORTRAIT OF GIUSEPPINA GRASSINI IN THE ROLE OF �ZAIRA�
Painted after the famous, larger portrait of the famous Italian singer, by E. Viget Lebrun (where the velvet robe is red); 180x99 mm., the cardboard fixed to the reverse, bears an old, handwritten label with �Zaira 1805� (the date when Grassini was on stage in London to sing in von Winter�s opera, when probably she met the Duke of Wellington for the first time, in its original, fire-gilt, rococo frame with suspension ring to the upper reverse. A beautiful portrait, done by a finest hand, possibly the same Viget Lebrun herself, excellent condition. Provenance: the estate of the opera singer Giuseppina Grassini, by descent. I
