Piotr Thies - Large equestrian statue in bronze with dark patina of John Sobieski III, King of Poland & Grand Duke of Lithuania, victorious over the Turks in Vienna on September 12, 1683, inspired by the painting Matejko and the monument of Gdansk. The King is represented in military ceremonial attire wearing the traditional felt shako, cape over chain mail, saddle blanket with embossed ligature initials "JS", his mount symbolically treading the Turkish crescent. A very important, beautiful and extremely rare statue, of important dimensions 42 x 37 cm, ornate marble base. In superb condition. I RR!
